Monitoring and evaluation job interview questions  involves in tracking the progress of activities, policies, results achieved from certain project interventions and evaluating its impacts on the target group. It assess whether the program has attained the target goals and objectives. It helps to make policy decisions; resolves issue and make adjustment of the program.
As monitoring and evaluation officer or intern, you will be required to oversee all this activities and how you are going to manage them. Monitoring and evaluation job interview questions may involve all this questions related to the activities that involve in monitoring and evaluation.
Interviews for monitoring and evaluation basically answer what skills you have to do the job, previous success methods, previous monitoring challenges, how you resolved, previous work experience in similar position and other situation which needed serious data attention you already worked.

1.       Introduction About yourself. Tell us about your self

Hint: This job interview question is enough to give all about you. It is not something to confuse what to say. This is basically the details on your Resume/CV. Start from your bio data, educational background, work experience (position held, Company name, number of years worked there), Training, workshops and conferences (Remember related ones only)
Remember, in this method approach of answering the interview question, you do not need to add your hobbies and referees. Just conclude at training, workshops and conferences that you attended.

2.       What are your weakness and strengths

Hint: Very important question. They are testing your attitudes towards work and duties that you will be assigned. No negative thing about yourself. Change your strength to weakness.
Example: “My strength is that I can multitask. (Give example) As I was working for Kenya Red Cross Society, I was also doing part-time Interpretation service and publishing Blog article.”
Since multitasking is your strength your strength will be concentrating too much on your work such that you forget or don’t get time for your family and hobbies.

3.       How are you going to benefit from this Monitoring & Evaluation job or internship?

Hint:  Remember do not talk about money or salary, talk about career wise. Show that you are interested to the experience that you are going to attain from the job. Say how this job is a basis to your future dream. The skills learned the management experience and the lessons learned from the evaluation of projects.

4.       Tell us about a scenario that you need to give a lot of concentration to data and give an example.

Hint: This is a common interview question to monitoring and evaluation position. To answer this question you need to fast think of situation such as calculations of budgets, data analysis of table, graphs or charts, data entry work in college or work place.
Talk about the data that needed full concentration such as telephone number, client numbers, post codes and how it was easy to mix up with. Tell them how you managed to deal with that tough situation.

5.       In your previous experience, describe a situation in your work place where you have to make a very difficult decision?

Hint: This interview question tests your response to stress and decision making ability. You need to present a situation that was tough and you were in dilemma of what to do. Say how you managed and how you resolved.
Remember to add how you resolved it or else is going to be a weakness for you.

6.       Can you tell us about a situation where by you found that your workmates have overlooked certain task and what have you done about it?

Hint:  To answer this job interview question you need to carefully select the scenario. The question is assessing how to track progress and manage change.  It should not be one that is affecting the any person or workmates. It should not be personal profile. Talk of workload that was ignored to be done and what you have done to bring the attention to it again.

7.       How do you deal with common repetitive questions?

Hint: The best ways to answer this question is not to say I hate repetitive questions and get disturbed with it but to show that it exist in many organizational work hierarchies  and the best thing to do is plan the work well , priorities and allocate to someone.
