There are illegal question that the interviewer should not ask the interview candidate. You can decide if not to answer this question if it does not relate to the job that you have applied for. The interviewer may ask you as much question as he wants to gather the information that he needs from you. 

The illegal interview questions that the employer may ask you include information such as your religion, age, pregnancy, marital status, disability, sex orientation and marital status.  Mostly, the hiring person will ask you job interview question that are relate to the position. You can answer these questions if they relate to the position that you have applied. For example if the job requires travel and the interview is interviewing you through video calls, he can ask you if you are disable or not to be sure that you can travel any time.

According to the laws of the nations, it is unlawful to ask questions that can cause discrimination and violates their rights. Interview questions such as convict reports, arrests, race and citizenship are off limit interview question that the interviewer should not ask. And if deemed to ask the interviewer should explain the reason for asking those questions.

How To Answer Illegal interview Questions.
As a job applicant, you should not keep quite or neither try to answer rudely to the interview. You should be very careful to answer such questions to get the job. This can be a stress interview to evaluate how you will respond in the work place.
The best way to answer illegal question is that you should ask an explanation of how this question relates to the job interview. Example “that is very good question. I will be happy if you can explain to  me how the number of wives that I have relates to this job?”
