Come with a job description to the job interview. Do not ask the interviewer for a job description. Most of the international NGO will ask you to provide as a job description.  To look that you are well prepared, motivated, you must carry a copy of the job description, your resume and application sent to the interview. It is also advisable that you have a copy of the job description as the time of your job application to apply professionally.

Be prepared for short interview notice. The hiring organization does not do this just because of poor planning but to test you if you can work under pressure in little time. This is mostly how the international NGOs work . They deliver service under pressure and time with not enough time to learn the job or the crisis situation such as disaster and armed conflict.

Take not of the cultural differences. Speak very well and do not feel shy. The interviewers understands most of the cultural issued but you need also to lay your part.

Be prepared to speak in more than one language in an interview. Most of the international NGO requires two languages English and a national language. Be ready to answer  the interview questions in any of the languages.

Be able to forecast what question that you may be asked in an interview. Look at the most frequently asked questions or common interview questions and prepare how you are going to answer them.

Formulate your answers and practice before the interview with a friend or try with a mirror in front of you.

Prepare your answer with STAR level or CARL level.  To answer interview questions appropriately,  you must answer inform of brief situation or context, give the action that you have taken as individuals, then what was the results of your action and finally the lesson that you have learned from those actions.

Show that you are competent  for the job. Show that the you have the right skills and competence by refereeing to the ones put in place in the job descriptions. The qualifications, the skills and the experience that they are looking for.

Never try to answer phone interview question from prepared ones. Be genuine and try to remember what you have practiced from.

Do internet research on how to answer the common interview questions.
Never response questions with no examples.


Don’t lie about your own achievements.
